Hi Majid,

Thanks for your comment! It is important to not set goals within your abilities. Goals are meant to make you better and bigger. The reason why most people fail is because of lack of planning and impatience to reach their goals. Most of us, me included, would like to be there NOW. Because of that we end up with bad partners and things go south. I would like to encourage you to still think and dream big! A great example is Bill Bartmann- he was broke, almost bankrupt, his car had been taken away, and he decided that with in 5 years he would be on the Forbes list of richest men in America. He didn't make it in 5 years. It took him 5 and a half. Keep dreaming Majid! And dream big! Our goals stem from our dreams!

Hello Rich,

Excellent post! And I love how you mentioned imagination... and delving deeper. Not a lot of people do that or go far enough in providing that advice.

When coaching clients in goal setting, I challenge them in doing a visualisation exercise where they physically see themselves putting the beginning of their goal in a shaker, then turning on the shaker to spice it up a little. Then when they see all those bits flying around in the shaker... to take those pieces and create a massive jigsaw puzzle (i.e. using their imagination to create a bigger vision). It works a treat every time :)

Hi Rich,
It's a good point but I believe we need to consider the bounderies as well, I had a bad experience with this type of goal settings, I started a manufacturing plant with out considering realities. The cost gone up and I ended up with bad partners, finally I backed up and geting ready for the next move, but this time try to make it realistic and limitted to my abilities.
Any ways thanks for your great posts and sharing.
keep up the good job,
Majid

Great Post Rich, I agree with Valerie Your Blog is very easy to read and I love the look. Taking the time to write out the goals seems to be most peoples challenge

Hi Rich,
We seem to be in sync today. I wrote about lists and how they pertain to goals. What I enjoyed about your write up was that you identified that you shouldn't put boundaries or limitations on those goals. Had I read this sooner, I would have incorporated you as a corresponding link to reflect this.

Thank you for sharing!

Hey Rich,

Again, great points. I especially like the "Stop setting a goal to write your goals." That, my friend, is priceless.
