Rich I spent just enough time in the corporate world to realize that managers generally implement policy whereas true leaders solve problems! There is a huge difference. I enjoyed your pertinent insights. Thank you.

Hey Rich,

Great article!! I have quit a bit of experience as a manager both in the military and also as a manager in a medical clinic. Your thoughts ring very true. As I was dealing with people, it helped me to think of myself as more of a coach than a manager. With this mindset you can lead, but are all on the same team.

Rich,

Great post! I was a "manager" for many years and love this article (it is so true)!

"Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things." -Peter F. Drucker

To be a successful manager, it is critical to be a leader and have a vision for others to follow.

Thanks for sharing!

Great article!
I would like to add that as a Leader, you must inspire your employees for the best results. A real Leader should focus on development "passion for results" in his employees. Employees should have clear answers to the following: What they are doing at workplace...How they are doing...Why... and Who is affected
When employees have answers to all these questions, the working environment will improve. It is Leader's job to "teach" employees to have clear vision.
