Home Businesses- They are not easy

If you have a home business and are succeeding, FANTASTIC! If you are just getting started or have been at it for a while and are not having much like, you fit in the category of ‘most home business owners’. As you can tell by the name, it’s quite a large group of people.

There are different ways to look at this. Some people want a quick and easy way out, well, good luck with that. If there was a quick and easy way, everyone would be doing it. The problem with building home businesses is that they are incredibly simple once you have a solid strategy, but it takes time and being mentored to develop this strategy. I love to tell my team that if it was easy then everyone would be doing it. The key itself is easy, they application is easy, the commitment, is not easy. It takes consistency with strategies. Making sure that you are working on it several times a week, if not daily. You need to be looking for better ways to do things, developing new strategies and positioning your self as a leader. You may not be a leader today, but that should not get on the way of your goals to become a leader.

You may think that you do not need to be a leader in order to succeed in home business, if that is the case you could not be further from the truth. Home businesses are all about selling, small products, big products, services, whatever it is. In order to sell this you need to develop some form of trust, you need the buyer to listen to you. You need to be confident. All these together are the simplest form of leadership.

If you want to learn more on leadership then please read my posts on leadership. I will say this now, leadership is a character trait that CAN be developed by making active decisions in your day to day life.

If you are looking to start your home business and people tell you it is easy and you do not need to do anything, you are looking into the options and listening to the wrong people.

Although it is tough to get a home business going, it is one of the most rewarding experiences! When you do succeed, when you don’t need to work, when you control your own business, you will feel over the moon!! Although it is hard work it is important to enjoy your home business. When ever I speak to my team I ask them how it is going and are they having fun. It does not have to be a burden. It is a life changing opportunity that is definitely worth the time and effort!

MLM Get Rich Quick Schemes

So many people think that MLM opportunities are get rich quick schemes. If you are looking to get into a MLM opportunity to get rich quick you may be heading in the wrong direction. What you could do is buy a hundred lottery tickets and pray that one of them gets lucky. You will have just as much luck with both.

If MLM opportunities were get rich quick schemes wouldn’t more people be doing them? And wouldn’t more people be incredibly rich? Granted MLM opportunities could help you get rich quicker, but they are definitely not get rich quick schemes.

Now, you may argue that lots of people have made lots of money in very short periods of time. Mike Dillard and Norbert Orlewicz are good examples. These two guys are classic examples of people who became wealthy in a seemingly short space of time. Have you listened to their full stories though? They have both been in the industry for over 15 combined years and have discovered all the ways for how not to do marketing. The incredible wealth they have generated is not only from MLM sales, but also from developing products (resources to help others succeed). These resources came from turning their years of failure into success, so definitely not overnight millionaires.

If you really want to get rich as quick as possible in MLM, you need to work hard at working smart, and remain consistent. Make sure you are working towards your goals on a daily basis.
Now I will focus more on the ‘schemes’ part of this article. First and foremost, as a general rule of thumb: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There are so many people who claim that you can get rich overnight on auto pilot with no work involved. There are opportunities that do work on auto pilot, but it definitely takes work to get set up and establish yourself as an expert. This takes time too, and time will give you more credibility.

Be careful not to jump from opportunity to opportunity! The common statistic is that 95% of people will not be interested in your primary opportunity, so it makes sense to have fall backs. Learn how to make money from those 95% who are not interested in your product. You can do this by helping them out in other areas. Some examples could be helping them out with an auto responder or directing them where to get their domain name, Mike Dillard gets into this in a lot more detail in his training material. The rule of thumb would be to have one main product with several smaller products in your corner as available resources to help with your main product (preferable) or any other product they may be interested in (the other 95%). You can also learn more about some of these products from MyHomeBusinessGuide.com (link below). If you are not making money it is not necessarily the fault of the product. Take time to go and improve your skills.

In summary, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t be shy to put a lot of work into your business because at the end of the day, there is no such thing as an MLM get rich quick scheme, it takes hard smart work and consistency.

How far are you willing to go to succeed? Are you willing to change, or even alter your lifestyle? Are you willing to analyze yourself and try finding your weaknesses? Are you willing to take your dreams to the next level?

Anything worth having in life is worth fighting for. I am not talking at all about knocking other people out of the way so you can literally climb over them. You need to focus on you, not others. The moment you start focusing on others, you start competing. Success is not a competition. If you do find you work better in a competitive mode, set harsh deadlines for you to achieve your own goals and compete with yourself. That is certainly what I do! The only time it is good to focus on others is when you are networking and building business alliances. I believe that by helping others to succeed, I will succeed even further.

Notice I did not call this blog ‘Success and Sacrifice’. It does not work like that; first you sacrifice and then comes success. By sacrifice I am talking about buying audio book, books, training materials or heading to the library if you do not want to buy material. It takes sacrifice to listen to an audio book on the way to work in the morning instead of your favorite playlist on your iPod. It takes sacrifice to read a book on investing instead of watching your favorite T.V. program. But with great sacrifice comes great reward. If you want to sacrifice a little, you will start to see some progress in your life. If you sacrifice a lot, huge changes will come.

Often in life we are faced with choices, an easy path, or a tough path. We often know that the tough path may have huge rewards, but will it work? That is a very important question… “Will the benefits outweigh the risk?” It has an equally important answer… “You will never know unless you go for it!”

I will relate to personal circumstances to show how I have been able to apply this to my own life. I recently came across an opportunity one evening while living in London. The only problem was that the opportunity was in Canada, but it was a fantastic opportunity! I would have to fly to Canada within four days, and had no idea whether or not the cost and risk involved would pay off! After speaking to my wife we asked ourselves that very same question: “Would the benefits outweigh the risk? ” The answer: “We will never know unless we go for it.” The next day I went and bought my air ticket, and 3 days later took the 8 hour flight to Canada where I stayed for 3 nights then flew back to London. Did it pay off? It certainly did! I received 3 job offers from that one trip.

Often the action its self speaks wonders to those watching in from the outside. Would I have regretted my actions if it did not pay off? No! I find it important to learn from every possible situation! I went for it, I gave it my best shot, and it paid off! It will not always pay off, but it is important to roll with the punches, get back up, and keep on moving forward!

It is incredibly easy to start a home business these days. There are so many MLM opportunities you are guaranteed to find something you enjoy. It is, however, difficult to succeed with your home business. Take the first step and start, and then sacrifice your time in a smart and consistent manner in order to see unbelievable success!

Pyramid Schemes

Pyramid schemes seem to be the bane of multi level marketing (MLM). There is a terrible misconception about MLM that everyone who is not within the MLM circle refers to these opportunities as ‘pyramid schemes’. There were companies that used them; however the true root of the meaning is now lost in translation and every MLM opportunity tends to be incorrectly labeled by those looking in.

The definition of a pyramid scheme (according to Wikipedia) is: a non-sustainable business model that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, often without any product or service being delivered.

The summary in reference to MLM is: one person recruits five people, and they each recruit five people, and they each recruit five people. The end result on paper looks like a pyramid with the person on top earning the most money. However, picture this: A big corporation has the CEO, under him are eight senior vice presidents. Under each of them are six vice presidents. Now keep going and going until you reach the thousands of worker bees. If you picture this on paper, it looks like a pyramid too, of course, with the person on top earning the most money.

For some reason MLM has been incorrectly labeled as a ‘pyramid scheme’. All the skeptics refer to any home business model based on a commission as a pyramid scheme. It seems to revolve around the shape on paper and not around the true meaning. If this is to be the case, then every healthy corporation is a ‘pyramid scheme’. Now, we know this is clearly not the case.

If you are looking to get involved in MLM then do not look at it from the aspect of getting involved in a pyramid scheme. More and more people are looking to start their own business at home. If you are at all worried about the legitimacy of the opportunity then go do your research. The internet is a fantastic and extensive tool at your disposal. At the end of the day the only real way for the average person to make big money is to own your own business. There are tons of fantastic companies offering MLM opportunities and one of them is bound to suit you.

If you are in MLM, or getting started in MLM then try your best to educate people. Do not refer to your opportunity as a pyramid scheme. Try get rid of the phrase as you are not doing yourself or anyone else any favors.
